 ....had a look around the back;

....and back on the streets

 The Melbourne Hotel also to get the refurbish makeover treatment

Eras apart

The QV1 Building looms over the W.D. & H.O. Wills Building at the corner of Murray and Milligan Streets. "Skate City" was the former W.D. & H.O. Wills warehouse. It was built in 1927.
For some history other than skateboarding this article is gold;

These videos predate my youtube membership; originally uploaded on Webshots

Skate City Roller Skating, corner of Murray and Milligan Streets, Perth, November 1982

Morgan Campbell brought this to peoples attention in the hope of more pictures.
Sharing what I could is what prompted this blog.
For a while in 1986-7 I used to make a trip to the still running Skate City. Memories of skateboard hire decks better than what I was riding and rollerskating on the top floor. I could think of no better place for a half pipe than in the back carpark they closed before anything happened.

Last days of the un-renovated Skate City

I may not have my original pictures from this era still.
In 2007 I sent these pics to Tony Edward at WABowlscum; so still have the attachments.
The resolution on these are a bit better than the ones currently available at his site.
